Mr. Kenneth Holbrook

Mr. Kenneth Holbrook, age 76, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at his home.  Kenneth was born on November 18, 1945, in Raceland, Kentucky, a son of the late Jesse Woodrow Holbrook and Olive Caroll. He was united in marriage to the late Peggy A. (Crum) Holbrook on August 26, 1967. Mr. Holbrook received his Bachelors in Music Education from Morehead and his Master’s Degree in Education and Secondary Education from WKU.  He retired from The Monroe County Board of Education in 1999. He was a member of The Gamaliel Baptist Church, where he served as the Music Minister. Mr. Holbrook was a co-founding member of The Monroe County Arts Council, a member of the Monroe County Bass Club, Gamaliel Lyons Club, an avid supporter of Monroe County Soccer, and loved fishing.  

He is survived by his two sons; Mike and wife Kim Holbrook of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Josh Holbrook of Gamaliel; five grandchildren, Amber (Neil) Lawson of Tompkinsville, Tyler Jobe (Hershel) of Gainesboro, Tennessee, Myra Holbrook (Robbie) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Caulyn and Noah Holbrook of Gamaliel; three great-grandchildren, Anna and Dwayne Lawson and Owen Hunter; two sisters, Phyliss Carraway of Berea, and Brenda and husband Jimmy Fields of Flatwoods; one brother, Carlos, and wife Margie Holbrook of Raceland; one brother-in-law, Jerry Turner of Tompkinsville; one sister-in-law, Freda Holbrook of Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Peggy Ann Holbrook, one brother, Ray Holbrook; one sister, Ruby Turner, two brothers in law, Roger Carraway and Bill Faulkner.
Funeral services for Mr. Holbrook will be conducted on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from The Bartley and Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with a burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Bro. Danny Pace will officiate the service.
Visitation with the family will begin on Saturday after 5:00 p.m. and will continue on Sunday morning after 9:00 a.m. and continue until time for services at 2:00.
**** Mr. Holbrook requested that everyone attending his funeral service to please wear UK Blue, Gamaliel, or Monroe County Memorabilia colors. ****
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated by the family to The Monroe County Arts Council, and these may be made at the funeral home or mailed to Bartley and Sons Funeral Home.
