UPDATE: The GEPB informed WCLU News early Wednesday that crews would be unable to complete their expected work due to staffing shortages. The project will be rescheduled.
GLASGOW, Ky. — Several Glasgow Electric Plant Board customers will be without internet or cable access for a large portion of the day Wednesday.
The internet outage is slated for Wednesday. The utility must move its fiber optic cables because Farmers RECC has installed a new line of poles. The two utilities share poles, and the GEPB has lines on the older poles.
Areas include the eastern portion of the utility’s service area.
“As a result, GEPB customers in that area will be without cable or internet service while we make this change,” according to a news release.
New fiber optic cables will be cut and spliced. The GEPB said that process can be time consuming.
“Our crews will be working diligently throughout this time to get service restored to those affected as quickly as possible,” a news release said.
Addresses impacted include those along Eastern Valley Estates, Siloam Road, Hidden Forrest Spur, Green Valley Drive, Green Hills Road, Penny Lane, J. Birge, Matthews Court, Roy Glover Road, Burkesville Road, Lick Branch Road, Bartlett Road, Spencer Road and Hollow Road.
Approximately 140 customers will be impacted by the repair work.
