Two Men Arrested After Traffic Stop on Bluegrass Parkway

Elizabethtown, Ky. (September 22, 2021)—Kentucky State Police arrested two men during a traffic stop after a large amount of illegal narcotics were discovered. On September 21, 2021 at approximately 6:39 p.m.; Kentucky State Police troopers were actively patrolling the Bluegrass Parkway when they conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound near the 26 mile marker for equipment and traffic violations.

During the stop, troopers were granted consent to search by the driver, Jose Padilla-Torres, age 31 of Sonora, Mexico. During a search of the vehicle, 15 pounds of methamphetamine and 5.25 pounds of cocaine were located in various locations inside the vehicle.

Torres and one passenger, Jose Rodriguez, age 26, also of Mexico, were arrested and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Both Torres and Rodriguez were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance- 1st degree (Cocaine) and trafficking in a controlled substance- 1st degree (Methamphetamine).

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Ethan Whitlock.
