GLASGOW Ky. – In a special called meeting of the Barren County School Board on Tuesday night, the board voted to keep in place the current mask mandate.

In an email to WCLU News, Bo Matthews, Superintendent of Barren County Schools said, “Our board remains committed to maintaining mitigation measures to keep students, staff, and their families safe during this critical time.  Given the present high rate of spread, we will keep all current COVID-19 safety procedures in place.”

This announcement comes after the Kentucky State Legislature passed Senate Bill 1.  Which gives local school boards the responsibility of determining many of the mitigation measures related to preventing the spread of COVID-19; including masking protocols.

Matthews released a letter to the public which can be viewed by clicking here.
