Sidney Ralph “Sid” Spears, 87, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Saturday, August 14th, at his home. Sid was born in Tompkinsville, KY on October 29, 1933, a son of the late Robbie Pearl (Dodson) and Dewell Spears.
He began his career at Fairmont Glass, where he met his wife, Josephine (Beal) Spears. They were married in Indianapolis, IN on October 17, 1953. He then worked and owned Sid Spears Construction. Sid worked his construction business while farming too. He served in the US Army. Sid was a member of Rock Valley Church of Christ.
Sid is survived by a daughter, Beverly Freeman and a son,Michael Spears, of Tompkinsville, KY; one granddaughter, Aimee Spears, of Bowling Green, KY.
Sid is also survived by two sisters, Jessie Hays, of Indianapolis, IN; Wanda Cain, of Tompkinsville, KY, three brothers, Audie Spears, of Tompkinsville, KY; James Spears, of Tompkinsville, KY and Royce Spears, of Indianapolis, IN.
Sid is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Beal) Spears; parents, Robbie Pearl and Dewell Spears; brothers, Mitchell, Clyde and Carroll Spears.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 22nd at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY. Burial is in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation is Saturday, 4-8 PM, and Sunday morning after 9:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
