On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the T J Samson Community Hospital contacted the Hart County Sheriff’s Office in regard to a female, at the emergency room, who had been assaulted in Hart County Kentucky. The female had sustained knife wounds to her throat and extremities.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the female victim was found to have several knife wounds to the neck and throat, arms and legs. The female was being prepared to be transported by helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Jonathan Sturgeon was identified as a suspect in the assault. The assault was reported to have occurred on Roseburg Road in Hart County during the overnight hours. The whereabouts of Jonathan Sturgeon were presently unknown.
A search warrant was executed at the residence where the assault occurred. Mr. Sturgeon was not located at the residence at the time.
The victim was found to have at least 10 knife wounds on her person. Four of the wounds were to the neck area. The victim was taken to surgery for the injuries to her neck area.
At approximately 5pm, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle driven by Jonathan Sturgeon on US 31 E in Barren County. A vehicle pursuit travelled through Barren County and continued through Hart County. The pursuit ended in the limits of Munfordville on Back Street.
Jonathan Sturgeon of Roseburg Road in Cub Run was arrested for the offense of Assault First. Numerous traffic charges are also being filed by the Kentucky State Police, stemming from the vehicle pursuit. Mr. Sturgeon was lodged in the Hart County Detention Center.
Agencies involved in the pursuit included the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Barren County Sheriff’s Office and the Munfordville Police Department.
