MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. — A Chicago man led a high-speed chase through Hart and Hardin Counties last week.
The Hart County Sheriff’s Office said Idris Akeeb, 35, initiated a pursuit May 12 with a HCSO unit after he sped away from a traffic stop. The stop happened near mile marker 62 along Interstate 65.
The vehicle continued into Hardin County and exited at Sonora. Kentucky State Police joined the pursuit before it ended near U.S. Highway 31W.
Akeeb was arrested and charged with speeding 26 miles or more over the speed limit, first degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), reckless driving, first degree wanton endangerment (police officer) and operating on a suspended or revoked license.
Akeeb was transported and lodged at the Hart County Jail.
