Jonathan Mark Ashley, 74, of Brownsville passed away Sunday May 9,
2021 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Edmonson County native was retired Greenview Regional Hospital transporter, an
assistant funeral director for Burgess Moody & Gravil Funeral Home in Bowling Green
and Gravil Funeral Home in Brownsville, a 52-year member and Past Master of
Washington Meredith Lodge #355 F&AM, a veteran of the US Army Kentucky National Guard
and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church where he served as a
trustee, Sunday School teacher and song leader. He was a son of the late Ewing G.
Ashley and Ruth Ellen Lindsey Ashley. He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Granville Ashley and David Ashley; a sister, Isabelle Vincent; and six
nephews, Jeffrey Vincent, Don Ashley, Mallory Vincent, Derrick Ashley, Ashley Knox
and Mark Knox.
A public walk-through visitation is scheduled for 2-7 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral
Home. Funeral services are private. A Masonic service will take place at Pleasant
Union Cemetery with burial to follow.
Surviving are his wife, Becky Shufelt Ashley; a daughter, Stacie Lynne Ashley of
Bowling Green; two sisters, Geraldine Madison and Evelyn Knox both of Lindseyville; a
granddaughter, Sydney Ellen McPherson of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews.
