BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 16, 2021) – A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of Interstate 65 in Warren County will add width restrictions in addition to the current lane closures. A wide load restriction of 20 feet in the southbound direction will be in place from the 25.2 mile marker to the 13.7 mile marker from April 26 through June 25. Each lane will reduced to 11 feet as well.
The I-65 corridor from the 27 to 13 mile marker is currently reduced to two lanes and is being reduced to one lane during some nights of construction.
Motorists are advised to use extra caution in the section of I-65. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph. Stopped and slowed traffic should be expected and motorists should stay alert. Weekly updates on the construction schedule will be sent out and posted on the District 3 social media accounts.
The project is to address the pavement issues in both directions in this section of I-65. The disjointed pavement, which is responsible for the poor ride quality in this section of I-65, will be rehabilitated and resurfaced. The project will also address repairing any issues with the shoulders of the roadway and drainage repairs in the median.
The project is expected to be completed by early winter. The contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting & Stone LLC on Nov. 20, 2020 in the amount $8,185,325.
