GLASGOW, Ky. — The Barren County Trojans introduced their new head football coach Tuesday morning.

Kyle Pierce, the Athletic Director for Edmonson County Schools for the last eleven years, takes over for Jackson Arnett after he stepped down to accept a teaching/coaching position in Boyle County.

Pierce had a successful coaching career at Edmonson County High School from 2004-15 where they compiled a 68-66 overall record, including an undefeated regular season & district championship in 2011. They also reached the playoffs in nine of his twelve years as head coach.

Although he has been out of coaching for five years, the idea of returning to the game he loves has always weighed on his heart. And the prospect of becoming a Trojan was the perfect opportunity to stand on the sidelines once again.

“This is a job that has always intrigued me,” he says. “I’ve always kind of kept up with them. I’ve just been trying to pray about getting back into coaching, and there is a big-time commitment that comes with that.”

Pierce will hope to improve on Barren County’s Covid-shortened 2020 season where the finished with an overall record of 2-6.
