Allen Trotter, longtime principal of Metcalfe County Middle School, will soon move into the role of Director of Pupil Personnel at Metcalfe County Schools. Trotter replaces Chris Huffman once he retires.

EDMONTON, Ky. — Metcalfe County Schools recently announced a new role within the school system.
Metcalfe County Middle School Principal Allen Trotter will be the district’s next Director of Pupil Personnel, following the pending retirement of current DPP Chris Huffman.
Trotter has worked at Metcalfe County Schools for 21 years, according to a news release.
For the past 14 years, he served as principal of MCMS. Previously he taught special education and social studies. Trotter has two daughters, Alex, a graduate of Metcalfe County High School, and Grace, a freshman at MCHS.
“Metcalfe County is my home, and I’m honored to continue serving the students and families in this new capacity at the district level,’ Trotter said. ‘It’s important for the success and wellbeing of our entire community that we work hard every day to remove any barriers that might prevent our students from receiving a proper education.’
Superintendent Josh Hurt said Trotter was a perfect choice as the district’s next DPP.
“Allen has spent his entire educational career serving the students and community of Metcalfe County,” Hurt said. “He has shown a true heart for the students and a sincere empathy, especially for those children and families who face adversity and struggles beyond the normal scope.”
Trotter will take over Chris Huffman’s duties, who is retiring in June after serving 27 years with the school district.
Huffman, a graduate of MCHS, spent his entire educational career with Metcalfe County Schools. He was named the district’s DPP in 2005 and previously served as a principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach. In addition, he volunteered on the boards of several local and state professional organizations.
“Metcalfe County Schools will always be a part of me,” Huffman said. “I have two sons, Colton and Cade, both Metcalfe County students who keep me busy with their extracurricular activities. I’m looking forward to spending more time with them and my wife Amber on our family farm. I’m also excited to find new opportunities to show my support for Metcalfe County Schools and the community.”
Superintendent Hurt said, “Chris has served our schools and community in myriad roles over the years. He has made it his life’s work to make our community better. He has never backed away from the toughest jobs and will be missed tremendously.”
The search is underway for a new principal at Metcalfe County Middle School.
