(BARREN COUNTY DETENTION CENTER)

GLASGOW, Ky. — A Barren County man is in jail after reportedly physically abusing three of his children.

Benjamin R. Brown, 32, of Glasgow, was arrested March 19. Authorities responded to a home with social services to a report of physical abuse. It’s unclear if that home was the site of the abuse.

Brown apparently came to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office to be interviewed. Several children were interviewed as well.

“The children all three disclosed they had been kicked, choked and struck by their father,” an arrest citation said.

Brown told a detective he kicked all of the children. He admitted he kicked them in the abdomen “at least once a week.”

Brown also admitted he grabbed the children by their throats “with the intention of making them look at him every two or three weeks.”

Another incident involved Brown kicking a child while striking him on the torso, the citation said.

“All of the incidents were intended as punishment,” according to the citation.

The 5-year-old has notable marks on his stomach after he was kicked.

Brown faces three counts of first degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

Jail records indicate Brown was released Saturday at 10:04 a.m. He was released on a $1,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court April 12 at 8:30 a.m.
