2-1-1991- On ABC-TV – Thursday nights – Wheel of Fortune, The Father Dowling Mysteries, Gabriel’s Fire, Primetime Live (Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer).

2-3-1991 – Anniversaries – 50th – Rev. and Mrs. Charles Binkley, Mr. and Mrs. William F Kinnaird, Mr. and Mrs. William Payne and 35th for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Froedge.

2-4-1991 – John Poynter is Named Barren County Sheriff Deputy.

2-5-1991 – “Friends of the Library” is being reorganized. The first meeting will be Wednesday.

2-6-1991 – Monroe County football standout, Jon Ross, signed a National Letter of Intent with Murray State University.

2-7-1991 – Area Servicemen – Capt. Charles R Kinslow, Jr., Spec. Daryl Scott Wood, CW03 Raymond P Sewell, Put Craig M. Deweese, Staff Sgt. James Delbert Bragg, and Pvt. Rondall S Long.

2-8-1991 – Barren County School Board gives go ahead for new middle school.

2-10-1991 – Brothers, Curtis and Mike Wood, are serving in the Persian Gulf War.

Sports – Glasgow’s Fred Stockton hits a trey with 5 seconds remaining to win over Hart County 72-71. Adar County pushes past Monroe County 91-60 and Caverna falls to Lexington Catholic 78-75.

2-11-1991 – Toni Ellen Gumm is crowned Monroe County Homecoming queen. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gumm.

2-13-1991 – Students in Chapter I Program at South Green Elementary made a quilt which they intend to send to Roy Dial, a soldier with the 623rd National Guard unit now stationed in Saudi Arabia. Dial’s daughters, Amanda and Kim are students at South Green.

2-14-1991 – Bobby Billingsley, Chief of Temple Hill Fire Department, received a donation from the Temple Hill PTA secretary, Michelle Glover. He recently spoke about fire safety to the PTA.

2-15-1991 – Cave City Police Officer Kevin Pickett recently graduated from the Ky. Law Enforcement Academy in Richmond.

2-17-1991 – Caverna High School Homecoming Queen is Ericah Passmore, daughter of Jim and Angela Passmore.

2-18-1991 – On February 9, the Glasgow Shrine Club took two busloads of children from Red Cross School to the Kosair Shrine Circus in Louisville.

2-19-1991 – Trojan Trail is closed to traffic due to flooding. South Fork Creek was out of its banks.

2-20-1991- Guatamalan Child “Raymundo” gets treatment here at TJ Samson Hospital. Tootie Button serves as a host parent for him.

2-21-1991 – Black History Week is proclaimed in Glasgow and Barren County. Micah Tisdale, Cammilla Shields, Stephen Thornton, Mela Tobin, Connie Williams, William Twyman, Carl Hunter, Scotty Sanderson, LaTasha Buckner, Marcus Williams and Jonathan Bradshaw met with Mayor Charles B Honeycutt for the proclamation.

2-22-1991 – Operation Yellow Ribbon will begin Saturday – Ribbons will be tied on utility poles along major roads in Glasgow supporting our local Guardsmen.

2-23-1991 – Soldier Joey Simpson hears his son, Kristopher Neal’s first cry from the war zone in Saudi Arabia.

2-24-1991 – George and Elizabeth Calvert are featured in People and Places by Frances Bastin. They cleaned the Munford Family Cemetery. They live near the cemetery on Franklin Street.

2-25-1991 – Pinewood Derby, sponsored by Cub Scout Pack 747, was held Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. Nicholas Napier and Adam Leftwich were two of the Tiger Cubs participating.

Cecil Goode’s Yesterday and Today, tells a great story about Kentuckians who played a role in settling Alaska. Virgil and Grant Huffman had family in Nobob.

2-26-1991 – Amy Lynn Newberry was one of 11 students interviewed to represent WKU in its 1991 Mountain Laurel Festival in Pineville.

2-27-1991 – The Modern Parish Center for St. Helen’s Catholic Church will be dedicated Saturday, March 2nd.

2-28-1991 – Glasgow City Council has okayed plans to purchase 145 acres of land surrounded by Cumberland Parkway, IDEA Park and Roseville Road for a new city park.

The Beaver Creek inn will open for business Friday, March 1st in the former Longhunters Inn, located off Hwy. 90 west. Operated by Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Henderson of Marrowbone, former owners of the Feed Shed.
