2-1-1981- Ambulance Board gets $140,000 for new building.

2-2-1981 – Cadet Harold G Strange is named Guardsman of the year by Murray State University Professor of Military Science.

2-3-1981 – David Shannon is GHS Player of the week after 18 point effort against Adair County last week.

2-4-1981- Barren County School Board okays in-school work program and Janet Smith is named as the Program Director.

2-8-1981- Local officials unhappy with the Kentucky Dept. of Transportation. Only two projects for Barren County – no work scheduled for Hwy. 90 East.

2-9-1981- Recent births – John Terry Mitchell II, Christopher Adam Williams, Leslie Renee Brooks and Leif Aaron Lawson.

2-10-1981 – Glasgow Reds win 6th grade tourney over Austin Tracy.

Carl L  Simmons has been called as the new pastor at Coral Hill Baptist Church.

2-12-1981 – All District Band members from Glasgow Junior High were Maria Bailey, Michael  Ward, Nanellyn Depp, Andy Simmons, Mitchell Fields, Linda Hood, Angela Jones, Robin Garrett, Amy Bracy and Jon McGee.

2-15-1981 – Charles Boles, retired lawyer, was featured in Neighbors, a weekly portrait.

Grace and Levy Geralds were two residents who enjoyed the Valentine Party at Barren County Health Care, sponsored by the Glasgow/Barren County Jaycettes.

“Little Theatre Group” is organized under the leadership of Mahlian Grinstead, Linda Moon and Sherry Dickinson.

Kenneth Corbin placed first in the Mason-Dixon Games High School pole vault Saturday in Louisville. He cleared 13 feet even.

2-16-1981- Divers work to floating a sunken houseboat at Peninsula Dock where three houseboats were sunk by high winds last week.

2-17-1981 – Only two Glasgow residents were winners in the Kentucky Indoor Archery Tournament held here Sunday. Preston and Wilma Gooden were the locals.

2-18-1981 – Danny Gibson and Marshall Bailey are the new owners of the Buick Pontiac  GMC dealership in Glasgow.

2-19-1981 – Steve Garrett is the new plant manager of Western Kentucky Coca Cola Company, Glasgow Division.

Kentucky Pants held a special part for Mary Louise Borders who has worked at the plant for 45 years as of March 3rd.

Metcalfe County Nutrition Program visited the Barren County Nutrition Program and had a sing a long.

2-23-1981 – The art work of Jeff Rutledge is on display at the Weldon Library.

2-24-1981 – AD – Cavanaugh IGA – Lettuce 39 cents a head, Idaho Potatoes, 10 pound bag $1.99, Round steak $1.68 pound and 48 oz. box Tide $1.69.

2-25-1981 – AD – Cinema – “9 to5” and “Fear No Evil”.

2-27-1981 – Senior night celebrated at GHS. Members of the senior class wore corsages!
