Terry M. Thomas was arrested Feb. 20 after a complaint that he assaulted his wife and tried to burn down their home in Cave City.
(BARREN COUNTY DETENTION CENTER)
CAVE CITY, Ky. – A Barren County man was stopped last Saturday before he apparently tried to set his house trailer on fire.
Authorities responded to 108 Reynolds Street (Lot 10) in reference to an assault call. Police were notified that Terry M. Thomas was trying to set fire to his trailer while assaulting his wife too.
Thomas exited the home when officers arrived and “was cussing at police,” a news release said.
Thomas would not follow commands to show his hands. They were behind his back.
Officers approached Thomas on his front porch and he grabbed an officer’s ballistics vest. He then hit an officer in the face.
Police detained Thomas after a short struggle. He was taken to the Barren County Detention Center.
Further investigation indicates he tried to begin the fire with a roll of paper towels and matches. Those items were removed from the home.
Thomas faces charges relating to third degree assault (police officer), fourth degree assault (domestic violence), first degree arson and first degree wanton endangerment. He also faces an alcohol intoxication charge.
