Daniel "Danny" Clayborn Williams

Daniel “Danny” Clayborn Williams passed away at his home in Cave City on February 16, 2021. A native of Hart County, Kentucky, he was born September 8, 1950 to Winford Wayne Williams and Katie Frances Waggoner Williams. Dan was Baptist by faith and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a 1969 graduate of Hart Memorial High School where he played on their basketball team. Dan was a U.S. Marine and was one of a select few African Americans to be hired as a tour guide at Mammoth Cave National Park. In the mid 1970s his athletic prowess resulted in a basketball scholarship to Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. Dan also excelled in the martial arts, earning a second degree black belt in Issinryu Karate. While residing in Kingsport, Tennessee following his college years, he worked as assistant athletic director at the Boys and Girls Club and volunteered with youth throughout the Kingsport area. He also served as a house parent at a group home for troubled teens. Upon returning to his hometown of Munfordville in the 90s, he created the Skyway Acrobatic Center where he trained many area martial arts enthusiasts and was instrumental in helping others earn their own black belt.

Left to forever cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon Hogan-Williams; along with two daughters: Misty Dawn Titus (Peter) of Denver, Colorado; and Whitney Danielle DeFevers of Bowling Green; and one sister, Sheila Gail Perkins of Horse Cave. Four grandchildren also survive; Arial Vance, Zoe Titus, Zack Titus and Isla Crider. Dan also leaves behind 3 nephews, 2 nieces, several cousins and a host of friends; as well as a special furry buddy, Junie.

In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by three brothers: James Samuel Williams; Charles “Grady” Williams; and Buford Allen Williams; as well as a brother-in-law, James Perkins and nephew William Anthony Perkins.

Per his request, cremation was chosen. A memorial service celebrating Dan’s life will be held 1:00 PM CT, Monday, March 1, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM CT on Monday, March 1, 2021.
