GLASGOW, Ky. – Yet another Glasgow Lady Scottie senior has signed a letter of intent to play college golf. Friends and family were on hand on Monday at Willow Oak’s Golf Club to celebrate the signing of Allie McCoy.

McCoy, the daughter of Frankie and Melissa McCoy, signed to play golf with Freed Hardeman University, a private liberal arts university associated with the churches of Christ, in Henderson, Tenn.

McCoy said years of hard work paid off when she signed the letter.

“It means so much. I’ve worked so hard and so long for it,” McCoy said. “I’m super excited for what’s coming ahead.”

Freed Hardeman has always “felt like her second home” to McCoy. She said countless summers and trips with her church built a love for the university.

Bart Roberts, Glasgow High School golf coach, said McCoy was a joy to have on the high school team, and he expects her to pursue greater goals at the Tennessee-based university.

“Ever since the very first practice – when I got to meet her – she was so kind and so generous and just humble,” Roberts said. “She’s always looking out for the other girls on the team. But she’s a heck of a golfer, and when she steps out there on that course she’s hard to beat.”

McCoy played for the Lady Scottie golf team for eight years and earned seven varsity letters. She was also named the Kentucky Super Preps’ Girls Golf Student Athlete of the Year in 2019, and she finished in the top five of the region tournament. She also played in the KHSAA State Tournament.

McCoy won the Bluegrass Golf Tour event, held at Elizabethtown Country Club, and was given an honorable mention by the Bluegrass Golf Tour All Stars.

She helped her team earn a district championship, a Class “A” Region Championship, a Class “A” State Runner-Up and a KHSAA Region Runner-Up finish during her last two seasons.
