GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Fire Department is looking to fill two vacancies in the department.
Dereck Rogers, Glasgow Fire Chief, said applications will be accepted through Oct. 16 at 4 p.m.
Applicants must be 18-years-old, have a high school diploma or equivalent and a current driver’s license. A written exam and physical ability course will be administered by the department.
The written and physical exam will take place on Friday, Oct. 23. Applicants must attend and pass both tests to proceed to the next portion of the hiring process. The written exam begins at 9 a.m. and the physical exam begins at 1 p.m.
While many people progress from a volunteer department to a professional department, Rogers said it’s not a requirement.
“We have hired quite a few that had no fire fighting experience before,” Rogers said. “It’s not a requirement of the job. We do all of our training in house.”
The exams will be given at the Glasgow Fire Department’s Fire Training Center located at 121 Beaver Trail in Glasgow. Those wishing to schedule an exam should email gfdctaylor@glasgow-ky.com or call (270) 651-5170.
Applicants must have a completed CPAT card upon the date of hiring. Detailed information can be found here.
Interviews are set for Oct. 29 and 30. Applicants will be granted an interview based on their completion and success on the written and physical exam.
Once hired, applicants will undergo eight weeks of training.
