EDMONTON, Ky. – A single-vehicle collision in Metcalfe County on Saturday resulted in two injuries.

The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kentucky 533, approximately six miles east of Edmonton.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Christian A. Woodard, 21, of Columbia, was operating a 2006 Dodge Charger westbound along the roadway. He was driving at a high rate of speed, a news release said.

Jorge L. Lucas, 18, of Columbia, and Jorde Rodriguez, 21, of Austin, Ind., were passengers inside the vehicle.

As the vehicle traveled westbound, it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle then traveled across both travel lanes and exited the roadway. The vehicle struck an earth embankment and went airborne.

The vehicle hit multiple trees in a wooded area before coming to rest on its roof in a wooded area.

Woodard was removed from the scene and was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital. He was admitted for his injuries.

Lucas was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital. Rodriguez refused treatment at the scene.
