RANDOLPH, Ky. – A single-vehicle collision in Metcalfe County Monday evening was alcohol-related.
The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the collision along Kentucky 640.
Preliminary information indicated that Matthew T. Stout, 32, of Glasgow, was traveling northbound along KY 640 in a 2004 Ford F150. As the vehicle traveled northbound, it entered a curve and dropped off the side of the roadway. He then overcorrected and lost control.
The vehicle skidded across both travel lanes and exited the roadway. The truck then hit a utility pole and struck a barbed-wire fence before coming to rest in a field.
Stout was removed from the vehicle and transported to T.J. Samson Hospital. He faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle (prohibited), reckless driving and failure to produce an insurance card.
The incident remains under investigation.
