RANDOLPH, Ky. – The Metcalfe County Sherrif’s Office was notified of two separate collisions on Saturday, and both incidents involved alcohol.
The first collision happened at 6 p.m. A 2020 Yamaha motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve along Randolph Goodluck Road, resulting in a collision.
Terry M. Perkins, 59, of Summersville, was driving the motorcycle. Authorities said the motorcycle traveled off the northbound shoulder after exiting the roadway.
Perkins was ejected. The motorcycle hit a fence post and came to rest in a fence row.
Perkins was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital via air ambulance where he was admitted for his injuries. He is suspected to have been under the influence at the time of the collision.
He was wearing a helmet, according to a news release.
Another accident happened at 8 p.m. along KY 533.
Authorities said Justin A. Peek, 28, of Knob Lick, was traveling southbound along KY 533 in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. As Peek was driving, the vehicle crossed both travel lanes and exited the roadway.
The vehicle struck several small trees before coming to rest.
Peek was removed from the scene and taken to a landing zone. He was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Peek was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was cited for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense).
