BONNIEVILLE, Ky. – Two people were arrested in Hart County Tuesday, and one child was taken into protective custody.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near the 7500 block of North Dixie Highway. The K9 unit was requested. Officials say Rina alerted on the vehicle, indicating there were narcotics in the vehicle.

A search of the car revealed multiple narcotic related items, a news release says. Officials determined the items indicated heroin use.

Danielle Cowan, 33, of Cave City, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (heroin, first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jail records indicate Cowan has been released.

Barry Marcum, 31, of Gradyville, was also arrested. Marcum is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. (first offense), first-degree possession of drug paraphernalia (drug unspecified, first offense), first degree wanton endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic related charges.

A 3-year-old child was taken into child protective services’ custody.

Both Marcum and Cowan are lodged at the Hart County Jail.
