GLASGOW, Ky. – The polls are open in Kentucky, and Barren County voters have made their way to the county’s sole precinct.

Voters who did not vote by mail or at the Barren County Clerk’s Office must report to Barren County High School’s Gymnasium if they desire to vote.

Approximately 350 voters had appeared at Barren County High School as of 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Barren County Clerk Helena Birdwell. Voting booths are spaced in the gymnasium and check-in is spaced with several locations for initial check-in.

Barren County voters, regardless of their normal precinct, can only vote at Barren County High School if they did not vote in-house or by mail. Birdwell said those that still have absentee ballots must return those by 6 p.m. to the ballot dropbox, which is located at the Barren County Clerk’s Office.

Birdwell said over 1200 votes had been cast during in-house voting at the Barren County Clerk’s Office.

An order was signed by Sec. of State Michael G. Adams on Monday that permitted absentee ballot requesters who did not receive a ballot by Tuesday to override that ballot and cast one in person. The voter must appear at their county’s designated precinct and explain that they did not receive an absentee ballot.

WCLU News will begin live coverage from Barren County High School at 6 p.m. Henry Royse, Bobby Richardson and Brennan Crain will be live on the airwaves of WCLU to discuss the limited primary election results.

Absentee results will not be tabulated Tuesday. The only preliminary numbers that will be available are from the machines at Barren County High School and the walk-in votes at the Barren County Clerk’s Office.

Complete results will be available after Saturday, Birdwell said.
