GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County voters turned out to the sole poll at Barren County High School on Tuesday for Kentucky’s primary election, but those results are only a fraction of the total votes that will be accounted for by Saturday.

The Barren County Clerk’s Office says 6,440 absentee ballots were issued and 4,104 had been returned as of Monday. The office also says 1,237 people voted at the Clerk’s office (in-house votes).

Over 1,500 voters turned out at Barren County High School on Tuesday. Six “e-scan” machines were used, and one “e-slate” was used, but no voters cast their votes on the “e-slate.”

The largest percentage of votes will be based on the absentee results, but those numbers will not be released until Saturday, June 27, at the earliest. Barren County Clerk Helena Birdwell tells WCLU News that those ballots cannot be accounted for until all of them are received, and the last day to have those ballots postmarked was Tuesday, June 23.

The following numbers are only preliminary results and are not to be considered final. These tabulations were completed from tapes printed from the election machines after 6 p.m. at Barren County High School and the Barren County Clerk’s Office.
