The Glasgow Scotties rallied from a 16-point deficit in the third quarter, but could not complete the comeback Tuesday night at home against Bowling Green. The Purples held on to win 64-60.
Bowling Green started the second half on a 6-0 run after leading 34-24 at the intermission.
“Unfortunately they started the half on that run,” Glasgow coach James Willett said. “We found ourselves … (with) a test of character. Are we going to let this thing get away from us or are we gonna compete?”
“And on the defensive end, we competed,” he said.
The Scotties responded with an 11-0 run that closed the Purples’ lead to five points, 40-35, with 2:52 left in the third period.
“Nik had a 3-pointer in the corner right there that if it would’ve gone down we would’ve cut the lead to two and I think the place would’ve got pretty wild,” Willett explained.
“We’re facing some adversity right now with the injury bug and the sickness bug, but I like my guys. They know what it takes to compete,” he added.
