The Barren County Trojanettes improved to 2-0 with a 56-51 win over South Warren at home Friday night.
With her team clinging to a two-point lead with less than two minutes to play, Katie Murphy buried a 3-pointer to push Barren ahead 54-49. That was Murphy’s only basket of the game.
Karleigh Delk followed with a basket and the Trojanettes were in control 56-49 with a little over a minute left in the fourth quarter.
“[Delk] did a heckuva lot better in the second half. I think she scored 11. But not just that, … in our press, she’s starting to read better and, of course, she’s quick and athletic,” Trojanettes coach Piper Lindsey said.
Barren trailed 40-38 after three quarters.
The Trojanettes on a 7-0 run to lead 45-40 and did not trail again. Delk scored three points during the run.
