The Barren County swim team dove into its season recently.
On Nov. 18, the girls’ team finished first and the boys’ team was second in a meet that included Glasgow, Butler County, Ohio County and Muhlenberg County at Ohio County.
The combined finishes of the two squads landed Barren first overall.
The girls 200 medley relay team of Macy Garrett, Hannah Doyle, Julia Kinsman and Abigail Harbison finished first. As did the 400 freestyle relay squad of Kinsman, Doyle, Garrett and Elaine Ross. Finally, the boys 400 freestyle team of Will Fant, Grant Branham, Caleb Neitzel and Austin Sewell won its event.
Individually, Doyle won the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, while Garrett won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Ross won the 500 freestyle.
The following relays and individuals placed second:
Kinsman, 200-yard freestyle; Kinsman, 100-yard breaststroke; Sammi Brewington, 100-yard IM; Branham, 100-yard freestyle;
Boys 200 yard medley relay (Grant Harper, Branham, Chris DeVore, and Fant);
Girls 200 yard freestyle relay (Ross, Harbison, Aleia Kate Harper and Bailey Hurt);
Boys 200 yard freestyle relay (Neitzel, Harper, Sewell and River Phillips).
