GLASGOW — A man was arrested Tuesday after he fled from a local pharmacy.
The Glasgow Police Department responded to Happy Valley Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint.
Officers located Robert Mercer, of Austin, and confirmed he had stolen items from Ely Drugs. He allegedly fled from the store and entered another business. Officers recovered the stolen items, and he was taken into custody.
Mercer was also in possession of methamphetamine. Police found it in his sock, a news release said.
He was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition (all others) and several drug related charges. He also faces a public intoxication charge.
The arrest was made by Officer Hayden Phillips, assisted by Officer Johnny Vance.
