GREEN VALLEY — An outdoor warning siren in eastern Barren County is operable again, officials say.
The siren had a malfunction for several weeks. The siren could be heard near Green Valley Tuesday morning while crews tested whether the siren worked.
Barren County Emergency Management repaired the fixture, which did not properly sound when activated.
The warning system is one of two in the county that emergency personnel have sought to repair in recent weeks. A fixture in Hiseville was eliminated during a bout of severe weather on New Years Day. The parts are on order for that project.
Emergency Management personnel encourages people to report sirens that do not work or have a noticeable issue. Reports may be made at (270) 651-4910.
