GLASGOW — The Barren County Sheriff’s Office reports several people were arrested over the last week for drug related offenses.
Authorities arrested a couple along Old Munfordville Road last Wednesday. A vehicle was parked in an area known for trespassing offenses and illegal activity, a deputy said in a citation narrative.
A glass pipe, suspected methamphetamine and a “half smoked marijuana cigarette” was located inside the vehicle. A pill bottle inside a purse contained a plastic baggy, which a deputy said contained a crystal substance “consistent with methamphetamine.”
Laura M. Ballard, 49, and Gary L. Ballard, 47, were arrested and charged with drug possession offenses. Laura allegedly told a deputy she had used methamphetamine for “just a couple months.”
Another incident involved a single vehicle crash along New Bowling Green Road near Dearing Road. A gray Jeep left the roadway and hit a road tile, a deputy said.
A deputy responded and detained 29-year-old Aaron Denton. Dispatch said the individual had an active warrant.
A clear rock substance was discovered inside a dip can in the vehicle. Authorities said it appeared to be methamphetamine. Denton allegedly told the deputy he had last used meth “a few days ago.”
Denton was arrested and charged in connection the drug possession and warrant he had.
Another incident involved a careless driver. A deputy said a vehicle was traveling around the Square in Glasgow. It allegedly “swerved from one lane to another quickly,” an arrest citation said.
The driver exited the vehicle when asked by a deputy. He alerted the official he “may have a ‘rig,’” which is a slang term for a hypodermic needle, authorities said.
A passenger inside the vehicle opened the glove box, which revealed the needle and suspected methamphetamine. Denton claimed possession, the deputy alleged.
A few warrants were served to various people in connection to drug possession, too.
