MERRY OAKS — A Barren County woman failed several sobriety tests Saturday evening before police determined she was under the influence of a stimulant.
A black passenger car was traveling along Merry Oaks Railton Road around 1:37 a.m. Saturday. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office completed a traffic stop.
Jean S. Johnson, 50, was the driver of the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix.
“The vehicle was unable to maintain its lane of travel and was swerving from one side of the roadway to the other multiple times,” according to a citation narrative.
Johnson has incoherent speech when the deputy approached the vehicle. Her pupils were also dilated.
Johnson said she had left Bristow Road, which was 15 miles from the traffic stop’s location.
Police conducted field sobriety tests and noted impairment across several of them. She was uneasy on her feet during the test, the deputy said.
A small bag was located inside Johnson’s pocket. It contained a white powder residue, which was suspected to be methamphetamine. She was arrested and charged with careless driving, driving under the influence, operating on a suspended or revoked license and a drug possession charge.
