GLASGOW — Two people were arrested early Sunday in Barren County after breaking into a home along Talley Road.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to 200 Talley Road regarding the burglary. A caller advised he saw headlights of an unknown vehicle backing onto the property of his deceased grandparents.

The car’s lights were turned off sometime before police arrived at the residence. The home was empty, but the caller’s grandparent’s belongings were inside.

A silver Buick sedan was in the driveway of the home. A man and woman ran from the home into an open field when police arrived.

The suspects continued to run when given commands to stop. Police pursued the man until he stopped. The woman continued running before she was detained sometime later.

The suspects were identified as Christopher O’Brien, 42, and Danielle Coats, 40, both of Glasgow. The two were arrested.

Police noted O’Brien had a prescription pill bottle containing an allergy medication. He also had two silver braclets and necklaces, an Avon ring, old coins, a pocket knife and a clear box with one dollar inside it. He also had two buprenorphine/ Naloxone packages. He did not have a prescription for the medicine.

The two said they were looking for a warm place to stay, according to police.

A side door of the home was busted, and the doorknob was knocked off with pieces lying on the ground. The rear door was unlocked, which is where the two ran from when police arrived.

The two face charges relating to second degree fleeing or evading police, second degree burglary and illegal drug possession.
