BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hazardous travel and slick roads remain following a winter weather storm system that dumped more than six inches of snow in some areas on Thursday.
Most roads remain covered or partially covered. The bitterly cold temperatures have created icy conditions as well.
Motorists are advised to avoid travel if possible. Motorists that have to be out should adjust driving behavior by slowing down and leaving plenty of space between vehicles.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 3 crews worked late into the night until temperatures dropped so low that plowing and treating were no longer an option. Crews have reported back in and will begin mobilizing once the sun comes up. Conditions should improve throughout the day today, however hazardous driving conditions are expected to remain.
Crews will be focusing on priority A routes which consists of interstates and parkways. Once those routes are addressed crews will head to priority B and priority C routes. The KYTC asks for patience as crews are working as hard as they can in tough conditions.
A priority route list for each county can be found at Snow.ky.gov.
