Candidates file Thursday amid uncertain filing deadline

GLASGOW — Many candidates continued to file for local office Thursday as the former political filing deadline loomed Friday.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear signed a bill late Thursday to extend the filing deadline. The move came after the close of business in the Barren County Clerk’s Office.

Many candidates continued to file as a winter storm made its way across the area. The latest filings include more Barren County magisterial district seats and Glasgow Council seats.

Those filings include one sheriff and constable candidate, several magistrate candidates and Glasgow City Council seats.

    • Joe Trigg — an incumbent.
    • Marlin Witcher — an incumbent.
    • Freddie Norris — an incumbent.
    • Duncan R. Cotton
    • Max Marion
  • Barren County Magistrate
    • Jefferey C. Botts — District 1. He is the incumbent.
    • Tim Coomer (R) — District 4. He is the incumbent.
    • Gala Huddleston (R) — District 2.
    • Steve Roberts (D) — District 3.
    • Beverly B. Harbison (D) — District 5.
    • Mike Haynes (R) — District 7.
  • Barren County Sheriff
    • Steve Garrison (R).
  • Barren County Constable
    • John London (D) — District 4.
