GLASGOW, Ky. — An inmate taken to the hospital Monday attempted to flee from jail custody.
The Glasgow Police Department responded to T.J. Samson Hospital Monday. A Barren County deputy jailer advised police she transported 38-year-old George E. Thompson, an inmate, to the hospital for treatment of an injury. It’s unclear what the injury was.
Thompson fled once the jailer opened the vehicle door when they arrived at the facility. A short foot pursuit ensued, and Thompson was detained.
Jail records indicate Thompson faces a second degree escape charge. He is also jailed on second offense drug charges and contempt of court.
