GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County Schools will not require masks to be worn on its campuses beginning Wednesday.

Masks will be optional for students and staff on all Barren County campuses, according to an email from Superintendent Bo Matthews. The lifting of the mask mandate in the district follows guidance in the school system’s COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan.

While masking is not required on campuses, a federal mandate requiring masking on school buses will continue to be in place.

“Please keep in mind that this is a fluid situation,” Matthews said. “We will continue to monitor data and communicate with local health officials.”

Matthews said any new directives or changes to requirements will be published on the school system’s website.
