(BARREN COUNTY JAIL)
EDMONTON, Ky. — A Metcalfe County man entered a home along Tug Clark Road Friday with an axe in hand and the intention to kill someone.
The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office said a disturbance was reported at 11 a.m. on May 7. Police arrived and observed Darrell S. Wilson, 41, putting a small axe inside the homeowner’s vehicle.
Wilson was detained pending further investigation. Authorities also discovered methamphetamine, the homeowner’s keys and cell phones in his possession.
Wilson apparently arrived at the home and began kicking the back door to gain entry into the home. He was armed with a small axe.
Wilson gained entry into the home and “stated he was there to kill the homeowner with the axe.”
An altercation ensued as Wilson disabled the phones inside the home. The homeowners were trying to call 911, a news release said.
Wilson was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, first degree burglary, first degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), fourth degree assault, menacing and third degree criminal mischief.
