GLASGOW, Ky. – The annual Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade has been canceled.
The announcement was handed down on Thursday afternoon after the Christmas Parade committee met to discuss increasing COVID-19 cases across the community.
“This decision was made jointly by the Chamber Christmas Parade Committee and the Chamber Board of Directors,” a news release said.
The annual parade’s route was changed earlier in the year to allow spectators a larger area to watch, but that was before COVID-19 cases began to appear in an elevated manner. The state’s guidance also recommends counties in the “red,” like Barren County, refrain from activities that promote large gatherings.
Another group has been rumored to have an alternative, but plans have not been announced.
