UPDATE (2 p.m.) – Glasgow High School has rescinded its announcement, and the football team now faces Logan County on Friday.

GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow High School announced all sporting events this week are canceled due to coronavirus related designations.

Barren County has been designated a “red zone” as COVID-19 cases have risen to a substantial number. The White House Coronavirus Taskforce analyzes counties and cities each week based on observed coronavirus cases in that area.

All home Glasgow High School sporting events have been canceled this week, including the football game on Friday against Adair County.

Glasgow Athletics is following the KHSAA recommendation to not play home games when a county is designated “red” on the KY COVID map.

Glasgow’s policy prohibits the team from hosting a game if the county is designated “red,” but they are permitted to travel to a “non-red zone.” While Adair County is a “non-red zone,” their policy prohibits teams from “red zones” from traveling to their fields for games. Thus, Glasgow cannot travel to Adair County this Friday.

Glasgow’s other fall sports teams may still be able to play by switching home games scheduled for this week to away games in counties that are not designated “red.”

That information is expected to be released at a later time by GHS Athletic Director Craig Cassady.
