The Glasgow Scotties closed the regular season with a 33-29 win at Franklin-Simpson. The Scotties improve to 9-1, and open the Class 3A playoffs at home next Friday against Hopkins County Central.

For the second-consecutive season, Glasgow rallied to win at Franklin-Simpson. Last year the Scotties won in overtime. This year they made a defensive stand with about three minutes to play, and ran out the clock from there.

Glasgow trailed 29-20 two minutes into the second half, but the defense stepped up from there to give a shot at victory on the road.

The Scotties trimmed the lead to 29-26 when Landen Holley swung a pass to Kaebran Jones, who took it 42 yard to the end zone. Glasgow’s two-point conversion attempt was stopped.

The Scotties’ Kyle Sledge intercepted a pass on the Wildcats’ next possession, but Glasgow was unable to convert the drive into points.

Early in the fourth quarter, Franklin-Simpson was forced to punt, and the ball went out of bounds at the Glasgow 23-yard line. On the Scotties’ first play, Jaylen Bradley took a swing pass from Holley 77 yards to the end zone. Daniel Rodriguez added the PAT, and Glasgow led 33-29 with 10:04 left in the game.

The Wildcats took the ball and drove inside the Glasgow 10-yard line, but the Scotties’ defense forced a turnover on downs with 3:05 left in the game. Glasgow ran out the clock from there.

The Scotties took an early lead in the game when Holley and Bradley connected on a 47-yard touchdown pass. Rodriguez kicked the PAT with 10:45 showing in the first quarter.

Franklin-Simpson returned the ensuing kick off, and added the PAT to tie the game at 7-7.

The teams traded touchdowns the rest of the first half, but a blocked extra point kick left the Wildcats ahead, 21-20, at halftime.

Holley threw for 272 yards in the game. Bradley caught three passes for 169 yards, while Keyshawn Austin caught two passes for 69 yards and Jones had a 42-yard reception.

Sledge led Glasgow on the ground with 78 yards, while Holley rushed for 22 yards.

The playoff game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.
