Joe Ed Ross, age 81, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Friday, October 16, 2026, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Joe was born January 12, 1945, in Bowling Green, KY to the late Wetzel Ross and the late Nancy Jane Emberton. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Vibbert.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith Ross; two step-daughters, Angela Wright and Sandy Dismon (Greg); three step grandchildren, Briggette Dauberman (Shane), Sydney Dismon, and Austin Dismon; one step great-grandchildren, Trulee Austin.
Joe was a 1962 graduate of Columbus Ohio High School and served in the United States Army, active duty in the Vietnam War between 1968-1970.
After the service, Joe worked as a factory worker, then worked in the oil fields out west and worked construction before he was an owner of a service station in Glasgow, Kentucky. Joe was known for his many talents and could fix or build anything.
Beyond the work, Joe was an avid bass fisherman and fished in numerous tournaments in several states over the years. Something about casting a line and feeling all his worries disappear.
Joe was such a kind and genuine person and could tell the best entertaining and funny stories about life experiences. He loved his family dearly and his face lit up with the biggest smile when he got to spend time with his grandchildren, especially Trulee, who he called “Peanut”. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
Joe’s wishes were to be cremated with a private family service.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to his Adoration therapists, Iris Medical Group and Time Savers caregivers, as well as Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Expressions of Sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
