Ira A. Vincent, age 84, of Brownsville, peacefully departed this life at his residence on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side. A native of Edmonson County, Ira was born on August 11, 1942, to the late Harold and Goldie Whobrey Vincent. He was united in marriage to his loving wife of thirty-one years, Michelle Vincent, who survives.
Ira was saved as a young boy at Oklahoma General Baptist Church, which is now known as Christian Home General Baptist Church. He united with his family at South Union General Baptist Church, where he continued his spiritual journey. He dedicated many years of hard work to his career in underground developing, laying pipelines at construction sites for Lakeridge Development. Through his years of labor, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and a willingness to put in the effort required to get the job done.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Ira found great enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life and the time he spent pursuing his favorite pastimes. Whether fishing, hunting, bow hunting, crabbing, or participating in trap shooting, he treasured every opportunity to be outdoors. These activities were more than hobbies; they were a part of who he was and a source of enjoyment that allowed him to make lasting memories. Among Ira’s favorite traditions were the fish fries he hosted for family and friends. Known for bringing people together around a table filled with good food and fellowship, he created opportunities for laughter, conversation, and treasured time with those he loved.
Besides his wife, Michelle he leaves to honor his memory—his daughters, Cassandra O’Connell of Ontario, Canada and Laura Forbes (Bob) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Stephen, Hannah Forbes, Jared Forbes, Bailey Vincent, Brandy Vincent, Tucker Vincent, and Leland O’Connell; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Vincent of Radcliff; uncle and aunt, Cal and Jewel Dean Whobrey; cousins, Eddie Whobrey (Kaye), Timmy Whobrey and Jimmy Whobrey (Lisa); sister-in-law, Alicia Vincent and nephew, Derek Vincent. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Ronald Vincent and Joshua Grigg; brother, Henry Jackson Vincent and great-nieces, Callie Ashley and Charity Mastin.
The interment will be in South Union Church Cemetery.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at South Union General Baptist Church.
