Barren County Schools will provide grief support at Barren County Middle School on Monday following the death of staff member Chad Gossett, according to a district press release. Gossett died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash in Tennessee, the district said.

The district’s Crisis Intervention Team and additional counselors will be on campus when students and staff return from fall break. Counselors will be available throughout the school day for those who need someone to talk to.

Families will also receive information and resources to help them support their children as they process the loss, according to the release.

“Chad was a valued member of our school district and served students at several of our schools throughout his career,” the district said. “His loss is deeply felt by those who worked alongside him and the many students and families whose lives he touched.”

Gossett, 55, of Park City, Kentucky, was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday, Oct. 7, on Tennessee Highway 68 near Tellico Plains. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, troopers responded around 10:30 a.m.

The preliminary report said Gossett’s motorcycle was traveling north when it turned onto its side and slid across the center line, then underneath the front of a van.
