Glasgow News 1

Glasgow drivers are being urged to plan ahead for a temporary closure on South Green Street this coming week.

According to the Glasgow Police Department, South Green Street will be closed near Glasgow Baptist Church from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22.

Police say the closure is needed so crews can complete repairs on the church steeple over those two days.

During the daytime shutdown, traffic on South Green Street will be detoured using Bunche Avenue, South Broadway Street and East College Street.

The department is asking motorists to use caution while traveling along the detour route and to avoid the area around the church if possible.

Officials also recommend that drivers plan ahead and allow additional travel time while the closure is in effect.

The closure applies only during the posted hours on those two days, and South Green Street is expected to reopen to normal traffic outside of that time window.

Please see the map for the closure and detour route.
