The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning drivers in Barren County to expect lane closures and delays on KY 90 and U.S. 31-E as ongoing safety projects move forward.
On KY 90, the project runs from mile point 0.2 to mile point 8.8.
According to the Transportation Cabinet, that work is in its final stages and is aimed at improving safety and efficiency along the corridor.
Crews will be adding rumble strips, completing guardrail work and placing thermo markings during this phase.
Lane closures and delays are possible in that stretch of KY 90 while this work is taking place.
On U.S. 31-E, a Highway Safety Improvement Project continues between mile point 8 and mile point 12 in Barren County.
Transportation officials say motorists should expect daytime lane closures from near J. Carter Road at mile point 8 to near the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway at mile point 12.
Crews will be completing drainage improvements at several locations along this section of U.S. 31-E.
A new turn lane will be added on U.S. 31-E at Windy Hills Road as part of the project.
Minor roadway widening is also planned throughout the corridor.
The widening work will create a 4-foot centerline buffer between opposing travel lanes, which is intended to enhance safety for drivers.
