The Peoples Bank hosted a bake-sale fundraiser Friday ahead of the Relay for Life on Saturday, Sept. 12, in Glasgow.
“We’ve raised a little over $1000 just this morning,” said The Peoples Bank representative Melissa Carey. “The staff made a lot of the baked goods and we’ve had some donations from local businesses.”
All proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society.
Carey noted the bank’s fundraising comes from a personal place as she said that their founder and president Terry Bunnell and his wife have both battled cancer.
“I think just about every employee here has been touched by cancer,” she said. “That’s why we’re so involved in this.”
The Relay for Life returns for the first time since 2017. It will be at the Barren County Family YMCA from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
