The Barren County Board of Education is preparing to take up school tax rates, long-term facility needs and the budget at its next meeting.
According to the meeting agenda, the board is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Barren County Schools Central Office to consider tax rates for the 2026-27 fiscal year and a new district facility plan.
Board members are also expected to vote on the working budget for 2026-27.
Construction and facility projects are also on the agenda.
The board will review summary of payments for various projects at Barren County High School, as well as summary of payments for the Barren County Area Technology Center addition project.
An action item calls for approval of a BG-4 for Barren County High School for Blue Ladder Construction Inc. on masonry.
Several consent items involve district operations and student activities.
The agenda lists approval of minutes, bills, salaries and accounts, monthly financial reports and the 2025-26 technology activity report.
Board members are also expected to consider fall fundraisers and out-of-state or overnight student travel.
Travel requests include Barren County High School students attending the Kentucky FFA Rising Sun Leadership Conference in Hardinsburg on Sept. 11-12 and the SkillsUSA WLTI Conference and leadership training in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 25-30.
Policy changes are also on the table.
The board is set to consider a second reading of a revised board policy related to dyslexia.
The agenda also lists contracts and agreements for review.
Those include nutrition services contracts with the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA, an architect contract for the Barren County Area Technology Center and Head Start full utilization.
In other business, the board is expected to consider declaring several items as surplus property.
Items listed include preschool chairs for resale, instructional items for disposal and a transportation truck for resale.
