Multiple volunteer fire departments from Metcalfe and Barren counties responded to a large agricultural shop fire on Little Critter Road after a mutual aid request, according to North Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department.
The department said on social media it was dispatched as mutual aid to Hiseville Volunteer Fire Department for a reported garage fire with exposures.
Edmonton/Metcalfe, Summer Shade and East Barren fire departments were also called to the scene, along with Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services.
First arriving units reported finding a large agricultural shop structure already well involved in fire.
Firefighters said they were immediately concerned about flames spreading to a full grain bin and a nearby wooded area.
According to the department, crews began a fire attack focused on containing the blaze to the building of origin and protecting those exposures.
Officials said firefighters faced excessive environmental heat conditions throughout the response.
Because of the heat, crews rotated personnel frequently and used rehab procedures to make sure firefighters stayed safe while on scene.
In all, five engines and three tanker-tenders operated at the fire, with a total of 16 personnel working the incident, according to North Metcalfe.
The department reported the fire was successfully contained to the original structure.
No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported in connection with the blaze.
