Cave City Police say they will conduct a series of clearly marked traffic safety checkpoints throughout September 2026.
According to the department, the checkpoints run from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Officers will be enforcing several traffic laws during the checkpoints.
Police say they will focus on violations related to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, and insurance requirements.
They will also be checking for seat belt and child restraint violations, along with motor vehicle safety equipment issues.
The department has released a list of approved locations where the checkpoints may be set up.
Those locations include the 400 block of Mammoth Cave Street and the 800 block of Mammoth Cave Road.
Checkpoints may also be held at Old Lexington Road and Cemetery Road, Grinstead Mill Road and Blair Road, and Old Horse Cave Road at the Hart County line.
Additional possible sites include Happy Valley Road at Estes Road, the 400 block of North Dixie Highway, and Louisville Road at Happy Valley Road.
Police say another approved checkpoint location is near the Interstate 65 interchange at Mammoth Cave Road.
Officials say the checkpoints are intended to promote traffic safety and encourage compliance with state laws.
Drivers are advised that all checkpoint sites will be clearly marked when in use.
