The Glasgow Police Department plans to conduct traffic safety checkpoints at various times throughout September in an effort to promote safer roadways in the city.
According to the department, the checkpoints will be held from September 1 through September 30, 2026, within the city limits of Glasgow.
Police say checkpoint locations may include, but are not limited to, Columbia Avenue, West Main Street, North Jackson Highway and Happy Valley Road.
The department says these locations are among several areas where officers may set up checkpoints during the month-long safety effort.
According to Glasgow Police, the purpose of the checkpoints is to promote highway safety by identifying motorists who may be operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Officers will also use the checkpoints to address other traffic safety concerns, including driver licensing, vehicle registration and insurance requirements.
Police say they will check for seat belt and child restraint compliance and look for potential vehicle equipment violations.
The department describes traffic safety checkpoints as an important tool for promoting safe roadways, increasing public awareness and reducing impaired and unsafe driving.
